Log Marketing New Zealand Ltd is the direct log procurement arm of Niagara Sawmill, having the main office based in Kennington, Invercargill. Otago office (MacNeil-Jones building) is based at 15 Donald Street, Kaikorai Valley.
Greg Lindsay
General Manager
Greg's forest industry career commenced in 1981 and he has spent more than 25 years in the industry since. He achieved the New Zealand Certificate in Forestry (NZCF) in 1985 and has been employed in the following roles:
- Forest Trainee Instructor – New Zealand Forest Service, Ashley Forest, Canterbury – one year
- Forest Supervisor – New Zealand Timberlands - Tokomaru Bay Forest, East Coast – two years
- Forest Supervisor/Manager – Southwood Export Limited, Southland – 17 years
In 2006 Greg moved out of the forest industry to take up the position of Parks Operation Manager for the Invercargill City Council, a position he held for four years before returning to the forest industry with Log Marketing New Zealand, in January 2011, was appointed company manager in 2015.
Ross Best
Ross is a great addition to the Niagara Log Marketing team, and yours! Ross brings a wealth of industry experience and passion. His industry career began in in the 1980’s at Allan Johnstone’s Tuatapere mill, from here Ross progressed to Craigpine for five years, before a fourteen year service at Niagara and most recently Ross was the Chipmill Manager for Southwood Export, a role he fulfilled for a decade. Across Ross’s presence in the industry he has served many roles from entry level labourer through to plant and operation management positions. The career experience Ross exudes encourages a more holistic approach to looking and assessing stands of timber.
Outside of work Ross is an active and adventurous individual with his time spread across family, deerstalking, white baiting, trail bike riding, motor sport, and tinkering in the shed.
Paul Brown (Brownie)
Paul began his forestry career with the New Zealand Forest Service in the early 1980s, specialising in forest mensuration in both native and exotic plantation forests. Paul has highly developed skills in forest inventory systems particularly MARVL and is a certified log scaler.
As a founding staff member of Log Marketing New Zealand Paul has considerable experience in the commercial activities of Log Marketing, including the purchase of woodlots and plantations and the sale of logs to a number of customers.
Sheryl Stark
Sheryl is our company administration officer. She is responsible for the operation of the company’s PSLOG log sales accounting system.
Rob Sheppard
Rob has originally come from an agricultural and tourism background where he worked in various locations throughout New Zealand. He has also spent a period of time overseas, mostly involved in the tourism sector.
Rob decided to have a change of focus and to commit to a forestry career in which he had a genuine interest. He attended Canterbury School of Forestry and attained a Bachelor of Forestry Science in 2021.
Rob joined the Log Marketing team in 2021 and took over the management of forest operations for the company. He oversees all forest establishment, GIS Mapping and manages the ETS consultation process for the company's clients.
He is passionate about integrating forests into the landscape and ensuring property owners end up with well managed plantations to achieve the maximum benefit from their forests.
