LOG MARKETING NEW ZEALAND  -   A PROFILE.

Log Marketing New Zealand previously a division of D.T.King & Co. Ltd, is now jointly owned by D.T. King and Niagara Sawmilling Company to form Log Marketing New Zealand Limited and commenced trading under this ownership in November of 2008.  Log Marketing  was originally set up and commenced trading in  early in 1997.

The Original formation of Log Marketing was a natural progression for DT King who has for a no. of years been involved with log cartage in the Industry and in more recent years moved extensively into the log harvesting area.  Today in addition to log cartage, D.T. King operate between 10 and 12 full harvesting crews, undertaking harvesting for its own Log Marketing division and other major Log purchasers within Southland.

 More recently in mid 2006,the business was expanded to service the greater Otago region operating from a branch office located in the Town of Balclutha.

Log Marketing New Zealand undertakes forest inventories for tender evaluation and the calculation of stumpages on forest blocks.

 Log Marketing then undertakes the marketing of the produce into the various log markets depending on the individual requirements of each client.  Often clients join forces with Log Marketing by joint venture pricing arrangements prior to submission of the tender.  This gives the log purchaser more comfort in terms of fixing log prices and volumes.

 Log Marketing has a philosophy of servicing and encouraging the local domestic markets over export markets.

 Wood is not only purchased from the tender system but also from the private Farm Forester.

 Log Marketing currently purchases and markets in excess of 350,000 cubic meters’ per annum and can offer the following professional services within the Forest harvesting Industry:

 ·          Forest Harvesting and Forest road engineering services

 ·          Planning the forest harvest to meet Resource Management Act requirements.

·          Construction of Forest roading for log transportation.

·          Forest harvesting, mechanical felling, ground and cable harvesting.

·          Log transportation and self-loading log carriers.

·          Wood purchase and log sales.

·          Log marketing on behalf of and export log sales.

·          Forest inventories using the MARVL system.

Log Marketing’s activities are fully supported by computer software systems

such as:

·          PSLOG log flow monitoring system providing up to the minute data on log flows, payment and invoicing.

·          MICROmarvl and GROWmarvl forest inventory systems.

Log Marketing and DT King are jointly members of these organizations:

·          New Zealand Forest Industry Engineering Association (NZFIEA)

          New Zealand Road Transport Association.
