The Company fully recognises from its own experience the benefits of training in respect to achieving crew stability, creating a safer workplace, achieving greater productivity, manufacturing a better quality product, all of which is a product of necessity by virtue of the tendering system. The Company operates under the strict safety guidelines and conditions set down by Rayonier New Zealand. Naturally this discipline is practised across all of our forestry operations at all times both within and outside of the Rayonier estate Crew leaders are responsible for the entire management of their crew including safety, training, log making, machinery maintenance and overall quality control. Company policy is to ensure all harvesting employees obtain the industry recognised general requirements and first aid, and encourage progression by assisting them towards gaining further modules. HARVESTING CAPACITY. We currently have the capacity to harvest in excess of 350,000 m3 per annum operating nine crews comprising the following makeup: · 4 Cable hauler crews (Madill, Thunderbird, BE 60) · 5 Ground based skidder (contract) · 1 Ground based mechanical harvester/Forwarder (small wood) · 3 Ground based Mechanical harvester /Forwarder (hardwoods) LOG TRANSPORTATION. We currently operate 34 log cartage units rigged as below: · 2 self-loaders, one with load cells. · 3 cage units designed to carry short billet wood · 29 general log carriers of various configurations to meet a variety of situations. ROAD & LANDING CONSTRUCTION. The company is actively involved in the construction and maintenance of forestry roads. As such we operate a road construction unit with the following machinery dedicated to this task: Grader, Excavator, and dedicated metal trucks. We hire in extra capacity where and when required. ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS. We are an environmentally conscious company, not only meeting but often exceeding the expectations of landowners and environmental agencies. It would be fair to say that our environmental awareness tends to stem from this involvement. In the year 2000 one of our contractors won a local environmental award for a harvesting operation.
